Cops say they have Ga. suspect cornered in Fairfax
FAIRFAX, S.C. (AP) — Allendale County deputies say they have a man who escaped from police custody surrounded in the woods.
Sheriff Lt. Steven Robinson said Friday afternoon that tracking dogs are trying to find Perry Sullivan in an area that extends two miles into woods near Fairfax. There was no word Friday evening on whether Sullivan had been caught.
Authorities say a deputy from Stephens County, Ga., was taking Sullivan back to the county in northeast Georgia on Thursday to face a burglary charge when the suspect lied about being sick, slipped out of his handcuffs and overpowered the officer, stealing his gun and patrol car.
The cruiser was found a few hours later, and investigators say Sullivan unsuccessfully tried to carjack a woman Friday morning in Allendale County.
