SC police charge man with fatal shooting at plant

BLENHEIM, S.C. (AP) — Marlboro County police have charged a man with shooting and killing a co-worker at a Blenheim carpet plant after the two had an argument.

Sheriff Fred Knight says Lamond Christopher Ray McClellan turned himself into police Saturday morning and faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The 24-year-old is accused of shooting Dontae Hulon Jarvell Davis late Friday night at the Mohawk Industries plant where they worked. Knight says the two men had an argument that led to the shooting, but says other details won’t be released while the investigation is ongoing.

It couldn’t be immediately determined Saturday morning whether McClellan has a lawyer.

Knight says no one else was injured in the shooting, which took place in a bathroom.
