Mother and Father Charged in Death of 4-Yr. Old

Columbia, SC (WOLO)– A Columbia four year old is dead and his parents are in custody accused of homicide by child abuse. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says it is an horrific case of of a mother and father killing their own flesh and blood. Courtney Thompson and Robert Guinyard were both arrested Tuesday after county medical examiners determined their four year old son died from blunt force trauma to the head and body. Investigators say they responded to this home on Beaverbrook Road Monday night to a report of the child’s death. Deputies say after interviewing the couple and collecting evidence they ultimately determined Thompson and Guinyard were responsible. Both suspects are being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
