SC police charge NC man in campground stabbing

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Horry County police have charged a North Carolina man with a stabbing death at a Myrtle Beach campground, and say his mother tried to cover it up.

Lt. Raul Denis says 18-year-old Adam Taylor Dwiggins, of Shelby, N.C., was arrested at the Ocean Lakes Campground after a Saturday night altercation.

Dwiggins is charged with murder in the death of Michael Dalton Fitch, also of Shelby. Police say Fitch was trying to break up a fight involving Dwiggins.

Police have also charged Dwiggins’ mother, Kathy Dwiggins, with being an accessory to murder after the fact. Police say she tried to hamper the investigation.

The two are being held at the Horry County jail pending a hearing before a judge. It couldn’t be immediately determined Sunday if either has a lawyer.
