GM’s Cruise to pay $500K fine to DOJ

(CNN)– GM’s self-driving car unit ‘Cruise’ will pay half a million dollars to resolve criminal charges over a falsified crash report.

GM admitted withholding important details from federal investigators after a crash last year that left a pedestrian seriously injured.

The incident occurred when a woman jaywalked into an intersection and was struck by a car.

The pedestrian was then thrown into the path of a driverless Chevrolet Bolt operated by Cruise, and was hit a second time.

Then dragged 20 feet, which is what the company failed to mention in its crash report.

Following the crash, Cruise immediately halted its driverless operations nationwide.
