Anglican dean from Egypt speaking in Sumter

SUMTER, S.C. (AP) — The dean of an Anglican cathedral in Egypt is in Sumter this week to speak about the church’s role in unrest in that country.

The Item of Sumter reports (http://bit.ly/12Dj3xW ) that the Very Rev. Dr. Samy Fawzy Shehata is the scheduled speaker during a luncheon Thursday at the Church of the Holy Comforter.

The noon address is open to the public.

Shehata is dean of St. Mark’s Pro-Cathedral in Alexandria, Egypt. He and his wife, Madlaine, are being hosted by Hartsville’s St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church through July 21 and are here to observe the Episcopal ministry in the southern U.S.
