FaceApp Filter Pulled After Complaints Allege Racism

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — A popular photo editing app is turning heads for all the wrong reasons and is making changes.

FaceApp gained popularity earlier this year after showcasing how to turn frowns into smiles and young faces into older versions.

A new addition to the application has been pulled after complaints that an so called “ethnicity filter” was racist. Users were reportedly becoming increasingly upset over selfies that would allow people to change their photo appearance to look Black, Indian and Asian,  some even calling the update “disturbing” and “incredibly racist.”

Users said the filter has since been removed.
