South Congaree Election Results

SOUTH CONGAREE, S.C. (WOLO) – The votes have been cast, and now the Town of South Congaree is welcoming two new leaders.

Here are the unofficial results from Tuesday’s election.

Brian Jackson appears to have won the race for mayor by about 35 votes.

He’ll replace Jerry McCormick who stepped down in May. McCormick’s resignation came after federal agents raided South Congaree Town Hall.

Former Councilman Richard Green also decided to leave his position around that time, and local residents have chosen Barbara Sox to fill that vacancy.

It was a very close race. Sox beat out Jeff Boatwright by four votes.

Town officials say there was a pretty low turnout at the polls.

The Board of Elections will verify the results Thursday morning.
