Coroner identifies pedestrian after fatal Orangeburg County hit-and-run

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle has identified the victim of the fatal pedestrian vs motor vehicle collision that occurred on Monday, said the coroner’s office.

The collision happened on Monday, Jan. 27, on Belleville Road near Cherry Lane around 7:50 a.m., 1 mile north of Orangeburg.

SC Highway Patrol said an unknown vehicle was traveling south on Belleville Road when it hit a pedestrian that was walking south on the same road.

After the driver hit the pedestrian, the driver left the scene, according to highway patrol.

The pedestrian was identified as 62-year-old Ricky Jamison of Orangeburg, who was pronounced as dead at the scene.

An autopsy has been schedule for Thursday, Jan. 30, said the coroner’s office.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office along with SC Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
