Sumter County man accused of multiple robberies

 

 

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies have arrested a man for allegedly robbing a store, Wednesday, Jan. 29.

36-year-old John Mickens is accused of robbing a store on Camden Highway at gunpoint.

During a traffic stop on Houck Street, deputies say they found evidence connecting Mickens to the robbery.

He was taken to the Sumter County Detention Center where he was denied bond.

A day after his arrest for the Camden Highway Robbery, deputies served Mickens with additional warrants on January 31, on charges that stem from a robbery at a store on Highway 261 South and Wedgefield, on Jan. 8.

Investigators say that Mickens entered the store as employees were closing and demanded money at gunpoint before leaving the store.

Mickens is being charged with armed robbery (x2), pointing and presenting firearm (x2), and possession of a weapon during a violent crime (x2).

Also he is a person of interest in connection with similar incidents in other jurisdictions.
