COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Saturday’s game against Louisiana Tech was the first without wideout Deebo Samuel, and you could tell.

At times, Carolina’s offense would have a rhythm, but it seemed, when the most was at stake, USC couldn’t come through with points.

Deebo’s absence was felt.

The Gamecock offense fell to 100th in the nation in total offense after their 17-16 win over the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon, but the game was just strange. After being shut out in the first half, USC turned it on to finish the game with 438 yards and close to 300 through the air.

With Deebo now sidelined for what could be the entire season with a broken bone in his leg, the Gamecocks are having a hard time adapting to life without their leading scorer.

“That hurts,” said Muschamp Tuesday. “It takes away your most explosive playmaker, but the issues we’ve been having are we have to score more points, and we’ve had missed opportunities.”

The Gamecocks face the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
