Oscar’s consider requiring movie producers to disclose A.I. usage

(CNN) — Variety reports the Oscars are considering requiring movie producers to disclose if they used artificial intelligence.
it comes after the best picture nominee “the Brutalist” and other high profile nominees used A.I.

Currently, it’s only optional for Oscar submissions to disclose A.I. usage.
The Motion Picture Academy’s Governors and Branch Executive Committees are investigating how artificial intelligence is used in each branch.

Variety also reports they’re considering making A.I. disclosure mandatory in the rules for the 2026 Oscar nominations.
Those rules are expected to come out in April. The academy’s sci-tech council is working out the recommended language.
