COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – Happy birthday to one of the only places on Earth where mac and cheese is a vegetable.

Starting Wednesday (9/27), Lizard’s Thicket is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

Bob and Anna Williams opened their first restaurant on Broad River Road in 1977.

Forty years later, that one restaurant has turned into 15 across the Midlands with more than 700 employees.
