LEXINGTON, S.C. (WOLO)– A Georgia man has been charged in connection with threatening the life of a public official in South Carolina, said the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

Michael Lee Gaskins, 56, was charged with threatening the life of a public official on Friday, February 7.

Gaskins is accused of calling and leaving a threatening voicemail to a public figure. Investigators said Gaskins also left his name during the voice message.

SLED agents said the phone call to Officer Cirencione violates Sec. 16-3-1040 (A) of the SC Code of Law. He was booked at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
