Jury comes to decision in civil case against Raymond Moody
Columbia, SC (CNN) — A civil case against the man convicted of kidnapping, raping, and killing a New York teen on vacation in Myrtle Beach was left in the hands of the jury Tuesday. The jury returned with a unanimous verdict determining he would pay $200 million in actual advantages and $500 million dollars.
17-year-old Brittanee Drexel disappeared in 2009. Her body wasn’t found until 2022.
Raymond Moody pleaded guilty to killing her and got life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Drexel’s mother sued him for Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress.
On the first day of the trial Monday, Moody said he did not intend to put up a defense.
