Man gets 15 years in Orangeburg County killing

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) âone space€one space” A Summerville man who killed a man in his Orangeburg County home after an argument in January will spend 15 years in prison. The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/1bAUrgH ) that 34-year-old Demetrius Perry pleaded guilty this week to voluntary manslaughter. Prosecutors say Perry shot 51-year-old Silas Williams in the pelvis with a shotgun at a Vance home on Jan. 26. Deputies never figured out why the argument escalated to gunfire. Perry was originally charged with murder, but prosecutors say they accepted the plea deal to a lesser charge because the men had been violent with each other before and Williams had threated to hurt Perry. ___ Information from: The Times & Democrat, http://www.timesanddemocrat.com
