Body of missing kayaker found in Lake Marion identified by Orangeburg Co. coroner
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, SC (WOLO) — Via the social media site X on Sunday, the dive team for the SC Department of Natural Resources say they have recovered the body of a missing kayaker on Lake Marion in Orangeburg County — after an unoccupied kayak with equipment was discovered on Saturday.
Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle has released the identity of the Kayaker found on Sunday, March 16, in Lake Marion in Eutawville.
Coroner Fogle says the person was identified as Henry Bryant, IV, 44, of Summerville.
Bryant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The coroner’s office says early preliminaries show Bryant died of asphyxia due to drowning.
Investigators say they used cell phone ping technology to track the person’s last known location.
Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office and the Department of Natural Resources are continuing to investigate.
