Spartanburg deputies investigate shooting death

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg County deputies say a man told them he shot an armed robber who followed him into his Boiling Springs neighborhood then came up to his car in his driveway and demanded money.

Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Ivey says 28-year-old Christopher Fowler of Inman died at the scene around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, while a second man with him ran away and hasn’t been found.

Investigators say the 48-year-old homeowner saw a car follow him into his neighborhood, then slowly drive past his home after he turned into his driveway. When the car stopped and two men came out, the homeowner says he grabbed his gun from his glove compartment

Ivey says it appears the homeowner was acting in self-defense and no charges will be filed at this time.
