Man wanted in NC killing shot to death in standoff

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a man wanted for killing his girlfriend at her North Carolina home was shot and killed during a standoff with officers in Rock Hill.

Investigators said York County deputies went to Franklin White’s home to serve a murder warrant on him early Monday morning. His girlfriend was found dead in the driveway of her Gaston County, N.C., home a few hours before. Investigators said 34-year-old Christina McCall was ending a three-year relationship with White when she was killed.

Deputies say they were trying to surround White when he got in a car to drive away. As officers tried to stop them, he pointed a gun and was shot by police.

The State Law Enforcement Division in South Carolina is investigating whether the officers were justified in shooting White.
