Special election fills seat of SC Rep. Cooper

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) — A Republican and an independent candidate square off for a vacant seat in the South Carolina House of Representatives.

Voters in Anderson County are choosing between Republican Joshua Putnam of Powdersville and Constitution Party candidate Dave Ballard of Williamston in Tuesday’s voting.

No Democrats offered for the seat given up by Piedmont Rep. Dan Cooper, who stepped down at the end of the last legislative session to spend more time with his family and business.

House District 10 includes Powdersville, Piedmont and Williamston.
