Antisemitic incidents on college campuses in the Southeast have increased, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) annual audit.

The audit showed an increase from 36 in 2023 to 70 in 2024 in antisemitic incidents on college campuses.

The audit also showed more antisemitic activity targeted towards “specific figures in the Jewish community, including Jewish elected officials and Jewish-owned businesses.”

The levels of antisemitism we’re seeing across the Southeast region should never be accepted and yet have become a persistent reality for Jewish communities,” said Eytan Davidson, ADL Southeast Regional Director. “The disturbing increases in campus antisemitism, vandalism, and targeting of Jewish businesses highlight the continued challenges faced by Jewish communities in our region.

South Caroline data:

  • 21 anti-Israel incidents in 2024, up from 18 in 2023
  • 35 overall incidents in 2024, down from 86 in 2023
  • 29 harassment incidents in 2024, down from 79 in 2023
  • 6 white supremacist propaganda incidents in 2024, down from 27 in 2023

Despite an increase in incidents on college campuses, overall incidents in the Southeast are down by 14%.

In 2024, there were 346 overall antisemitic incidents throughout the Southeast region (including Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina), according to ADL. This is down from 404 overall antisemitic incidents on college campuses in the Southeast in 2023, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) annual audit.

ADL said antisemitic incident data has broken all previous national annual records in 2024 for the fourth year in a row.
