American Airlines lost $200 million after fatal crash in D.C.
(CNN)– American Airlines took a financial hit after the deadly crash in Washington D.C. earlier this year.
The airline estimates it lost about $200 million in ticket sales following the January mid-air collision between an American Eagle flight and an army helicopter.
All 64 people on board the plane and three people in the helicopter were killed.
Rival Delta Air Lines said its passenger bookings also fell in response to the D.C. incident, which was the first fatal crash of a U.S. airline in 16 years.
