“We love you” — family of missing USC student speaks out

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — According to the Columbia Police Department, 18-year-old University of South Carolina student Donaven Dempsey is missing.

Investigators with the Special Victims Unit say on May 8th, the USC student left his hometown of Spartanburg and returned to Columbia. Since then, he hasn’t had any contact with loved ones. He was last seen wearing a white tee shirt, black sweater with a neon green inside, and blue jeans.

ABC Columbia’s Lee Williams spoke with his father David Dempsey, his aunt Katie Dempsey, and his girlfriend Destiny McCorvey who say Donaven may be struggling with the two year anniversary of the passing of his mom –especially with Sunday being Mother’s Day.

Columbia PD asks that you contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or the Columbia Police Department at 803-545-3500 with any information.
