New study suggests a drink that may hydrate better than water

(CNN) — Most people reach for water when they get thirsty but what researchers from Scotland’s Saint Andrews
University found, may surprise you.

They compared the hydration responses of several different drinks, and found milk is a better option.
That’s because milk has sugar, fat, and protein, all of which help to slow the emptying of fluid from the stomach and keep hydration happening over a longer period.

Milk also has sodium, which acts like a sponge and holds onto water in the body.
