Detention Officer accused of being aggressor in assault on inmate

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A corrections officer is on the other side of the law, accused of being the aggressor during an incident at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Marcus Diamond, 37, turned himself into to authorities at the Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s headquarters of Thursday, February 22 and is charged with second degree assault and battery 2nd.

Investigators sat Diamond and the inmate became involved in a physical altercation on February 8, but determined Diamond was the aggressor.

Both men were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Diamond is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
