Investigator: Apt. Fire Likely Caused by Electrical Failure

Irmo, S.C. (WOLO)– Firefighters say faulty wiring and a Christmas tree started a fire that killed two small children. The Irmo Fire Department’s Chief Investigator Jeff Allen says Wednesday’s fire at Saint Andrews Apartments started in the family room. Allen says the fire was probably caused by an electrical failure which ignited a nearby Christmas tree. Five year old Jamarion Martin and 18 month old Reghin Stevens both died in the fire.
