Irmo’s Detrek Browning picks up more All-American honors
FLORENCE, SC – Francis Marion University 6-0 senior guard Detrek Browning and 5-10 junior forward Shaunice Fulmore have each been named to a second All-America squad, this time the Division II Bulletin 2018 All-America Team.
Browning was named to the men’s fourth team and Fulmore was listed among the women’s honorable mention recipients.
Earlier this spring, Browning was named a third-team All-American by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and Fulmore picked up honorable mention All-America recognition from the WBCA.
Browning, a native of Columbia, led the Peach Belt and ranked fourth nationally in Division II in scoring at 24.6 points per game. He shot 52.2 percent from the field, including 43.8 percent from beyond the three-point arc, and 86.3 percent at the free throw line. He led the Patriots with 61 steals and also averaged 3.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest, while logging an amazing 36.4 minutes per game.
Browning, who scored in double figures a school-record 56 consecutive games, helped direct Francis Marion (20-10) to its first 20-win season in 14 years and the program’s second-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Fulmore led the Patriots in scoring and finished second in the conference at 19.3 ppg. The Lake City native also averaged 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, while registering 48 steals and 34 blocked shots. She averaged 33.4 minutes played per contest and connected on 42.2 percent of her field goal attempts, including 31.8 percent of her three-point attempts, and 79.0 percent of her free throw attempts.
While posting thirteen 20-point contests and five double-doubles, she helped guide FMU to a 16-12 record and a sixth-place finish in the PBC’s regular-season standings.
Browning is a former All-State performer at Irmo High School, and Fulmore a former All-Stater at Lake City High School.
