Governor Henry McMaster suspends Bethune Town Councilman

BETHUNE, S.C. (WOLO)– According to the Office of the Governor, Governor Henry McMaster suspended Bethune Town Councilman John Anthony Heflin from office.

Governor McMaster issued on Monday, Aug. 18, an Executive Order 2025-28.

The press release says Heflin is suspended until he is formally acquitted, convicted, or a successor is elected and qualifies as provided by law, whichever event occurs first.
