Tunnel to Towers 5K event honors first responders and military, road closures announced

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)–The Annual Tunnel to Towers 5K event in downtown Columbia raises funds to support firs responders and military members.

The event, Friday, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center off Lincoln Street is an annual fundraiser.
The event raises funds for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports our nation’s fallen and injured first responders, veterans and their families.

The City of Columbia has announced road closures for the event Friday afternoon. See below.

Road Closure Timeline

 

5:00 p.m. – Initial Closures for Setup

  • 1000 & 1100 blocks of Lincoln Street
  • 900 block of Senate Street

6:45 p.m. – Additional Closures for start of the race

  • Gervais Street:
    • Eastbound lanes between the Gervais Street bridge and Assembly Street will close at 6:45 p.m.
    • Westbound lanes between Huger Street and Assembly Street will remain open during the race.
    • Gervais Street is expected to reopen by approximately 7:45 p.m.
  • Blossom Street:
    • Westbound lanes between the Blossom Street bridge and Assembly Street will close at 6:45 p.m.
    • Eastbound lanes will remain open during the race.
    • Blossom Street is expected to reopen by approximately 9:00 p.m.
