RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A man has pled guilty after being arrested for dogfighting, said the solicitor’s office.

Kareem Lann pled guilty on September 3 to two counts of ill treatment of animals and one count of presence at a facility of animal fighting or baiting.

Lann was sentenced to two years, including one year of incarceration in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

After his release, Lann will serve one year of probation and is prohibited from owning or possessing animals for five years, said Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

Lann was arrested along with 12 other men on April 20, 2024, when South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents and officers from various agencies rescued two dogs during an active dogfight in Eastover.

Authorities said over $84,000 in cash and multiple firearms were seized at the scene.

Law enforcement charged each suspect with criminal conspiracy, presence at facility of animal fighting or baiting, and two counts of ill treatment of animals.
