Military: South Carolina man dies in Afghanistan

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Military officials say they are investigating the death of a civilian from South Carolina in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense announced Wednesday that 59-year-old James W. Coker, 59, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., was pronounced dead on Sept. 5 in Kabul. No other details were available.

Coker was on temporary assignment with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He worked for Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.
