SC food banks granted emergency food response money

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Four food banks in the region has been granted $405,185 from the One SC Fund for emergency food response.

One SC Fund was activated recently in response to the delay of federal SNAP benefits threatening to impact more than 550,000 South Carolinians earlier this month.

As the statewide philanthropic response to natural disasters and statewide emergencies, the One SC Fund at Central Carolina Community Foundation distributes contributions through grants to nonprofits serving local communities across South Carolina.

$405,185 has been awarded in grants from the One SC Fund for Emergency Food Response through Feeding the Carolinas to the regional food banks serving all 46 counties:
  1. Golden Harvest Food Bank
  • Serving 6 counties (Aiken, Allendale, Bamberg, Barnwell, Edgefield, McCormick)
  • Amount granted: $62,248

 

      2. Harvest Hope Food Bank

  • Serving 20 counties (Calhoun, Chester, Chesterfield, Clarendon, Darlington, Dillon, Fairfield, Florence, Greenville, Kershaw, Laurens, Lee, Lexington, Marion, Marlboro, Newberry, Orangeburg, Richland, Saluda, Sumter)
  • Amount granted: $140,835

 

3. Lowcountry Food Bank

  • Serving 10 counties (Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper, Williamsburg)
  • Amount granted: $111,631

 

4. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina

  • Serving 10 counties (Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Greenwood, Lancaster, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Union, York)
  • Amount granted: $91,101
After activating on October 28, 2025, more than $400,000 was contributed to the One SC Fund for Emergency Food Response by 695 individuals, corporations, and foundations across South Carolina and the country, say officials.
Since its creation in 2015, the One SC Fund has helped South Carolina respond to natural disasters and emergencies, including the Thousand-Year Flood, Hurricanes Matthew, Florence, and Helene, the COVID-19 response, and the 2025 Emergency Food Response.
