Governor and First Lady hold annual Christmas Open House

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Governor Henry McMaster and First Lady Peggy McMaster held their annual Christmas Open House at the Governor’s Mansion on Sunday afternoon.

Families from across South Carolina were greeted by Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, and enjoyed musical entertainment by local soloists.

They were also treated to refreshments including hot chocolate, cookies, and candy canes. The event was free of charge and open to anyone, no reservation needed. The governor and First Lady asked guests to consider making a donation to Pawmetto Lifeline.

The Columbia Garden Club has decorated the mansion every year for Christmas since 1981.

“It’s a joyous occasion to have people come through this historic place in this historic state, and see a lot of (people) they’ve never met. No personal invitations went out for this. And we hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to come look at what their state has done on these grounds, and think of what we can do in this very talented state,” says Governor McMaster.
