Sumter woman charged in stabbing death of her partner

SUMTER, SC (WOLO) — A woman is being charged with the stabbing death of her partner in Sumter.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Akasha Tamia Jones is being charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Deputies say they responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a home on Bell Road shortly after 6 a.m. Sunday.

They say Jones allegedly stabbed the victim during a physical altercation in which alcohol was involved. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Jones was booked at SCSO.

The incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
