SC Senate Democrats introduce Family Protection Act
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Senate Democrats are introducing a measure they say will help families.
Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, they introduced the Family Protection Act.
Lawmakers say the legislative package strengthen families, support caregivers, expand childcare and housing access, reduce drug costs, and improve maternal and mental health outcomes.
The act faces an uphill battle as there are only 12 Democrats in the State Senate compared with 34 Republicans.
