Liberty Day at the SC State House

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Students celebrated South Carolina’s role in the American Revolution Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.

Hundreds of fourth graders from across the state descended on the State House to take part in Liberty Day.

Students heard from Governor Henry McMaster, took part in Revolutionary era demonstrations, and experienced the State House as a living classroom.

There are several other events planned to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in South Carolina.
