SC Attorney General says state’s price gouging law in effect

 

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Due to the State of Emergency going into effect by Gov. McMaster on Wednesday. Jan. 21, 2026, Attorney General Alan Wilson says the state’s price gouging law is now in effect.

Wilson says this is just a precaution, and they’re not seeing any impacts yet, but they have to be prepared.

The price gouging law protects citizens from excessive prices such as food, gas prices,  tree removal during state of emergencies.
