COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– On Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2026, Gov. Henry McMaster gave his final State of the State Address at the SC State House.

The address started off with the governor honoring fallen firefighters and law enforcement who lost their lives in the line of duty.

During Gov. Henry McMaster’s speech he highlighted the achievements the Palmetto State has had in the last couple of years.

He highlighted the companies that came to the state and created jobs along with the move by personally acknowledging them.

McMaster also talked about the road improvements around the state that have happened in the last 4 years.

His speech also highlighted the history, and diversity of the state.

Right after the governor’s address, Representative Jermaine Jackson of the Democratic Party showed up in a video challenging the remarks the governor made about the improvement, and achievements of the state.

South Carolina Democratic Party Chair Christale Spain released the following statement:

“After decades of one-party control by the Republican Party, the results are crystal clear: More than 587,715 South Carolinians are paying more for health care, hospitals are closing, families are struggling with rising costs, our roads and bridges have been neglected as our state falls further behind. Tonight’s State of the State should answer one question: after years of complete control of state government, why are working families still being left out? Democrats remain focused on real solutions for families and real accountability.”
