Kroger, Benedict College pack campus food pantry

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– In honor of Black History Month grocery chain Kroger and Benedict College teamed up Thursday, Feb. 26 to pack the pantry.

Kroger donated more than $35,000 in non-perishable food and gift cards to Benedict’s campus food pantry.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, nearly one in four undergraduate students face food insecurity.

And that number is even higher among HBCU’s.

Those ABC Columbia spoke with say they are happy to help.

Kroger also took part in Pack-the-Pantry events at four other HBCU’s across the southeast.
