Man arrested in connection with Thursday Monticello Road shooting

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says a man has been arrested in connection with a Thursday homicide.

Investigators were called to the 7300 block of Monticello Road on Thursday, March 5, around 12:15 p.m. in reference to a shooting.

Upon arrival to the scene, deputies found two victims who were both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Deputies at the scene rendered aid until EMS arrived.

One victim was taken to a local hospital while the other was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim who was pronounced dead at the scene was identified as Jordan T. Miller, 18, of Columbia.

Anthony Boyd was arrested, and charged in connection with the shooting.

Investigators were able to determine that the victims and Boyd were known to each other, and that they agreed to meet at the location.

When everyone arrived to the location, Boyd began firing at the victims, according to RCSD.

RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team found him on Thursday, March 5, around 7 p.m. and took him into custody without incident.

Boyd was charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

He was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he will be awaiting a bond hearing.
