Man accused of murder during crime spree sentenced to life in prison

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– SC Attorney General Alan Wilson says a man accused of a murder during a crime spree in 2022 was sentenced.

25-year-old Jason Ford pled guilty to murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

According to investigators, in December of 2022, Ford stole a car in Sumter County then drove to 72-year-old Mae Burgess’s Clarendon County home, killed her, and stole her vehicle.

He is also accused of trying to kill a man in Sumter County.

The man survived.

Ford also pled guilty to burglary, grand larceny, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
