SLED investigating allegations of hazing within Lexington High School Baseball Team

 

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Officials with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) say they are investigating allegations of hazing within the Lexington High School Baseball Team.

According to officials, SLED received a request on February 18 by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department to look into reports of hazing.

The specifics of what the alleged hazing entailed were not released.

SLED is asking anyone with information to email the agency with tips at SLED.SC.GOV.

Officials with Lexington School District One say they are also investigating the allegations.

In a statement provided to ABC Columbia official said in part “hazing and any behavior that harms students is taken very seriously. Lexington High School and Lexington County School District One are fully cooperating with law enforcement.”

In the meantime, officials say the baseball season will continue as scheduled.
