COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)–SC House lawmakers have passed a more than $15 billion state budget.
The bill will have money going towards pay raises for teachers, law enforcement, state employees, and fixing infrastructure.
The bill now heads to the Senate.
This comes as the House also passed a bill that aims to gradually eliminate the state income tax over time.
Earners making less than $30,000 a year would pay a 1.99% rate and those who make more will pay 5.21%.
The bill conditionally lowers the top marginal tax rate until it reaches 1.99%, then lowers the total tax rate until it reaches 0%.
It now heads to Governor Henry McMaster‘s desk.
