UPDATE: Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office identify man in “suspicious” death near SC State campus
ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) – Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office have identified Keyshawn Johnson, 22, as the man found at University Village across from South Carolina State University. Johnson was found with multiple gunshot wounds in his car, and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. Johnson was not a student of the university.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO) – ABC Columbia news has received a statement from officials at South Carolina State University regarding what they say was a shooting near the campus:
“Last night a shooting occurred at University Village, a residential complex that houses students within the Orangeburg community. The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating. The university’s “shelter in place” has been lifted, and an all clear has been given.”
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office have also issued a release about the fatal incident:
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced that the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found deceased in a vehicle early Wednesday.
“At this point, we’re waiting on an autopsy to determine a cause of death of the individual,” the sheriff said. “We’ll know more after we have a cause of death.”
Ravenell said that around 12:30 a.m. witnesses called 911 after discovering an unresponsive male seated in a vehicle parked at University Village, an apartment complex located across from South Carolina State University.
Witnesses said that earlier in the evening, they heard what they believed to be gunshots coming from nearby.
Ravenell said it is not confirmed if the two incidents – the unresponsive male and the alleged gunshots – are related.

Around 2 a.m. students reportedly received a notification that an incident occurred at the University Village Apartments.
