Ridgeland woman gets 23 years in boyfriend’s death

RIDGELAND, S.C. (AP) — A 22-year-old Ridgeland woman has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for stabbing her boyfriend to death last New Year’s Eve.

Prosecutors said Tara Weber was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter Wednesday after a two-day trial.

Authorities say Weber picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed 24-year-old Kyle Way once in the chest during an argument at their home. Way died on the way to the hospital.

Prosecutors say police had responded to several domestic violence calls at the home before.
