Sumter Police: 2 charged after gun seen waved on school grounds

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter Police say two people are in custody after a man was seen waving a gun in a school’s parking lot.

After 4 p.m. on Monday, March 30, Sumter Christian School was put on lockdown, and police was contact after a report of a man wearing a ski mask and waving a gun in the parking lot of the school.

Once officers arrived to the school, they learned the man was distraught over a family pet that was found dead near the school.

A commotion followed as family members/associates began to arrive at the school to console the man, according to police.

One of the people then drove away after which the firearm was no longer visible, according to information gathered in the case.

Police later located and recovered the firearm.

Cameron Tindal, 35, is charged with aggravated breach of peace and possession of a firearm on school grounds.

Shaquasha Berry, 23, is charged with accessory after the fact to a felony.

Both Berry, and Tindal were booked at the county detention center.
