Over the last few weeks, RCSD deputies have been receiving shots fired calls in the area of Main Street (Old Eastover) and McCords Ferry Road between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

On April 16, 2026, deputies were staged in the area in an attempt to locate the shots fired as they occurred.

Around 8:30 p.m., deputies heard several shots fired over the span of a couple of minutes, with the sound of the shots coming closer, as a vehicle was approaching, says RCSD.

Deputies then saw a blue Sedan and initiated a suspicious vehicle stop.

The driver who was identified as Elliot Collier was detained without incident, according to Richland Co. Sheriff’s Dept.

During a search of the vehicle several spent shell casings, 8 firearms, and around 1,500 unspent rounds of ammunition of varying calibers were found.

Collier was charged with aggravated breach of peace and taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

RCSD says he has since been released on bond.
