Workers in the Midlands held May-Day protest

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Workers in the Midlands and across the country held demonstrations Friday (May 1, 2026) in recognition of May-Day.

Also known as International Workers Day, May Day began in 1889 as a way to promote solidarity among industrial workers.

This afternoon in Columbia, demonstrators marched from the state house to ICE headquarters on Main Street.
