A repeat offender, Alexander Dickey, is accused of shooting and killing 22-year-old Logan Federico while she was visiting a friend in Columbia. Dickey had been arrested on 25 felony charges and 40 criminal charges before Federico’s murder.

Graham, Fry, Stephen, and Melissa Federico will hold a press conference on Logan’s Law.

A press release from Graham’s office says Logan’s Law is aimed at addressing problems within court judgments and how criminals like Dickey are given leniency.

The law would create a publicly available registry of violent criminals to bring transparency to judges and prosecutors. It also directs the U.S. Attorney General to submit a report to Congress identifying deficiencies in data sharing between federal and state governments, including fingerprint, warrant and criminal history, the release said.

The press conference is set to begin on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach Police Department Annex.
