Energizer introduces new child-safe batteries

(CNN)– Small, round batteries are a real danger to children who may swallow them.

Now, Energizer is introducing child-safe lithium batteries.

Energizer’s new ultimate child shield coin lithium batteries have multiple safety features.

They come in child-resistant packaging, and have color alert technology.

That alerts caregivers by dying a child’s mouth blue if they put a battery in their mouth.

The batteries also have a bitter coating to help discourage ingestion.

If they are accidentally swallowed, the batteries have ingestion burn protection to prevent burning of the digestive tract.
